Resolutions & Proclamations for Emergency Services

Stillwater County continues to provide the support for enhancing the delivery of emergency services to our citizens. Recently the Board of County Commissioners passed two resolutions officially adopting the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and adopting our newly published Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Handbook. Each resolution will allow for improved planning, response, and coordination during emergencies and disasters.

In 2025 we added four resolutions, adopting our updated Emergency Operations Plan and Multi Hazard Mitigation Plan for Stillwater County and the City of Columbus. Over the past two years Stillwater County DES has worked to update these plans, realizing that both plans help protect our citizens. A well-integrated Emergency Operations Plan and Hazard Mitigation Plan ensures that Stillwater County responds effectively to emergencies and proactively reduces risk through mitigation. The linkage between both plans strengthens both operational readiness and long-term resilience.

In August 2025 Stillwater County Commissioners signed a proclamation declaring August as Emergency Management Awareness Month. This follows many other counties and states across the U.S. that are doing the same to recognize emergency management.
