Board Leadership Training 2022

On May 10th, 2022 at 6:00 pm, the Board of County Commissioners and Economic Development sponsored Board Leadership Training at the Stillwater County Pavilion. Dan Clark, Director of the MSU Local Government Center, gave a 3-hour presentation on how locally appointed and elected board members could be both high functioning and more effective in their service. Dan discussed topics including Montana’s Open Meeting Laws, Executive Session, closing a meeting, meeting minutes, Montana’s Code of Ethics, principles of good governance, meeting agendas, and managing public content. 44 members of local government boards and non-profits were in attendance. The audience engaged in many questions and scenarios for Dan to help answer or provide guidance. The training was a great opportunity for board members to refresh on leadership topics while also making sure boards were compliant and following the law.
